Lead

Leadership Institute Fellowship Team (LIFT)

The 2010 LIFT program has been postponed until further notice. We are not currently accepting applications. Please contact us with any questions.

HandsOn Bay Area (HOBA) prepares individuals to become nonprofit and community leaders through its Leadership Institute Fellowship Team (LIFT). Leadership fellows support the staff and mission of HOBA, gaining knowledge and skills that will enhance their ability to create change in their community.

Program goals are accomplished through:

Leadership Development

  • Receive training from local experts in the nonprofit sector
  • Engage in direct-service projects in the community
  • Learn how to network with colleagues and peers
  • Work collaboratively as a team

Leadership Experience

  • Lead and develop large scale projects
  • Create, plan and execute service-learning
  • Identify resources and contacts in the community
  • Achieve goals as a team

Who Should Apply?

Requirements

  • Commit to two full-day Saturday retreats in January
  • Attend two projects as a team in February
  • Attend ten monthly evening team meetings (one per month from February – November; time and dates will be decided on by the team)
  • Attend four to six supplemental trainings
  • Present accomplishments at a graduation ceremony in December
  • Commit an additional five to ten hours per month for the practical skills application component, which will be done individually and with regional teams
  • Work with their regional team to accomplish their goals
